Popular job rating and review site, Glassdoor.com has recently published its annual report of "25 Best Jobs in USA for 2015". The list is based on various factors like rating from employees working in different sectors, career opportunities, earning potential and job openings. Glassdoor’s rating is based on scale of 5. Today we have listed top 8 tech jobs from Glassdoor’s report.






1. Software Engineer

Job of software engineer had over 104,828 job openings during October 2014 to January 2015 on Glassdoor.com. Software engineer profession has received job score of 4.6 out of 5. The average salary of software engineer in USA is $98,074. The rating for career opportunities as software engineer is 3.3.

2. Database Administrator

Database Admin is critical job in IT. It is second among all tech jobs and seventh in the entire list in report. Database Admin profession has scored 4.5 rating. There were 9,790 job openings for Database Admin in last three months. The career opportunity rating for Database Administrator is 3.4. Database Admin has average salary of $97,835

3. Data Scientist

Data Scientists are hard to find but in today’s age of BigData, companies have good number of openings for Data Scientist. Over 3,449 jobs for Data Scientist were listed on Glassdoor in last three months. The profession has scored job rating of 4.4 and career opportunity rating of 3.8. The median salary for Data Scientist is $104,476.

4. Solutions Architect

Solutions Architect is highest demanded job-role at Salesforce, Microsoft, SharePoint and other cloud service companies. The profession has received Job Score of 4.4 and opportunity sore of 3.4. There were 3,982 job openings for Solutions Architect on Glassdoor in last three months.

5. QA Engineer

Quality & Analysis checking is as important as software solution development in IT. QA engineer is another high demanded job role. The profession has scored job rating of 4.3 and career opportunity rating of 3.2 in Glassdoor’s report. Over 26,383 jobs were listed for QA engineer in last here months. The average salary for QA Engineer is $77,499.

6. Business Analyst

Business Analysts are as important part of IT business as Data Analysts. The job score for Business Analyst is 4.3 and career opportunity rating of 3.2. There were 21,337 job openings for Business Analyst on Glassdoor in last three months. The average salary for Business Analyst is $74,638.

7. Network Engineer

Network engineers take care of uninterrupted data flow in the organization. The profession scored 4.3 job rating and career opportunity rating of 3.2. There were 14,092 job openings for Network Engineer in last three months. The average base salary for Network Engineer in USA is $87,518.

8. IT Project Managers

IT Project Managers play crucial role of getting the product developed from team. The job role received job score of 4.3 and career opportunity rating of 3.2 in Glassdoor’s list. The average salary for IT Project Manager is $103,710. There were 5,700 job openings for IT Project Manager on Glassdoor in last three months.

Firefox is one of the most useful browsers on the board and there are several reasons behind it. One of the most effective reasons is it can be customised in more than one ways. Mozilla has always worked hard to ensure that its latest versions has all those options and features which cannot be found without extra add-ons in other browsers. Here are some important tricks to customise Firefox browser.


1. Customise The Main Menu:

The new revamped Auralis interface was introduced with Firefox 29 in April, 2014 and since then customisation has become easier. There is a new icon-driven menu that can be customised fully. To access the feature, open the main menu, and hit the customise link at the bottom. Then you can see a full customisation window to add or remove menu items by dragging them to and from the Additional Tools and Features field. The order of the menu can also be customised so that you can move the most frequently used features to the most accessible part of the menu.

2. Smart keywords:

If you search a particular item a lot, then you can follow this useful trick. Right click on the search box, select “Add a Keyword for this search”, give the keyword a name and then an easy-to-remember shortcut name and save it. Then go Firefox's address bar and type the shortcut, you get instant search results.

3. Auto-complete:

This is a keyboard shortcut which is not very popular but highly useful. Go to the address bar and type the name of a site without www or the domain name like .com and “Google”. Press Control-Enter and the site will automatically turn up. If the address has .net, then press Shift-Enter and for .org, press Control-Shift-Enter.

4. Add/Remove Toolbar Icons:

If you are looking for customisation, it's not limited to the main menu. Change the search bar field and bookmarks bar field by adding and removing items. If you don't like Google search field and want to see the Awesome Bar then click it and drag it out of the search bar area into the Additional Tools and Features field. You can also remove features from menus or toolbars by right-clicking on them and hitting “Remove from Toolbar”.

5. Further Customise Awesome Bar With Tags And Keywords:

You can control the Awesome Bar through tags which can be added to any bookmarked page and when you have to open it, click on the blue bookmark star in the toolbar. This will open a field which shows among other things the tags. No tags are assigned by default. Tags are great for categorising information and they impact how items appear in the Awesome Bar. Then create bookmarks and tag them.

6. Tab navigation:

You don't need to use the mouse to select different tabs which are open, instead you can also use the keyboard. The shortcuts are:

Ctrl+Tab (rotate forward among tabs)
Ctrl+Shft+Tab (rotate to the previous tab)
Ctrl+1-9 (choose a number to jump to a specific tab)
7. Create a user.js file:

Create a user.js file to speed up your browsing experience. Create a text file named user.js in your profile folder for the same.

8. Connect Through A Proxy Server:

You can use a proxy along with your browser and Firefox is pretty unique in the same as it lets you enter proxy settings for your browser only. Other browsers require require that you change proxy settings in your Internet options. Here proxy settings can be found at Options under the Advanced Settings and Network tab. Open proxy controls from Settings button.

9. Limit RAM usage:

If Firefox is taking too much memory on your computer, then limit the amount of RAM. Go to about:config, filter “browser.cache” and select “browser.cache.disk.capacity”. You can lower the rate depending on how much memory you have.

Cloud gaming services became popular last year and since then a new technology of game streaming has evolved, and its popularity is increasing among avid gamers. There are several new solutions which allow streaming a game from a computer in your house to a device in another room. The game streaming options cover local game-streaming and fancy cloud-gaming services, which even stream from a data center over the Internet. Have a look at the five most popular game-streaming services which you can use easily.


1. Steam In-Home Streaming:

This is one of the most handy game streaming services as it's built into Steam. This solution is not meant only for Steam games but other PC games too. This feature was designed keeping Steam OS in mind for Steam Machines and with this service you can stream games from your Windows gaming PC to Steam Machine, which runs on Linux-based Steam OS in another room. You can also stream games to a lightweight box which is connected to your television. Steam OS is not even required for the same all the time. Enable Steam in-home streaming on Windows PC and start streaming games to any Windows, Mac or Linux PC. You can even run the game on your PC and play it on another lightweight laptop. It can be used on local network only.

2. NVIDIA GameStream:

There is a GameStream feature in NVIDIA which is offered by GeForce Experience application for modern NVIDIA GeForce graphics hardware. If there is appropriate hardware in your system, then open the GeForce Experience application, click GameStream and then use the options to set it up. There is a major drawback though. NVIDIA GameStream can only stream to NVIDIA Shield Portable and NVIDIA Shield Tablet devices. No other computer can be used in this case and not any other mobile device too, even though there is NVIDIA graphics hardware in the devices. It can stream games over the Internet, but there is no assurance over how it works actually. It depends on the Internet connections on both ends.

3. NVIDIA GRID:

NVIDIA GameStream is focused on streaming games from your own computer, NVIDIA GRID is more tended towards remote servers. This service can be used with servers only. This service can only stream to NVIDIA's mobile shield devices and not any other PC or other mobile devices. Games which are optimised for NVIDIA GRID and which run on NVIDIA's servers can be streamed to mobile devices and nothing else. It's an experimental part by NVIDIA as they test their hardware and infrastructure.

4. OnLive:

OnLive is the service which innovated the idea of cloud gaming. It has changed their service as it offers OnLive CloudLift for $8 a month and this service lets you stream games which have been purchased on Steam and games are streamed to other devices from Onlive's servers. You can use the existing Steam library and shift between playing games on PCs and then you can stream them over the Internet. It's highly usable as it has Steam integration and it allows Steam in-home streaming too.

5. PlayStation Now:

This is a game-streaming service by Sony which has been developed by Gaikai's technology for browser-based games. Sony acquired Gaikai which used to be a cloud game streaming company. Now Sony uses the game-streaming technology for PlayStation Now which can stream certain PlayStation 3 games to PlayStation 4, 3, Vita and TV devices. PlayStation 3 games can also be streamed on modern PlayStation 4 console.

                NEW DELHI: South Korean electronics major Samsung will launch its next flagship smartphone Galaxy S6 by March-end.

Though there is no official confirmation from the company yet, according to industry sources the company will unveil Galaxy S6 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, scheduled for March 2-6. When contacted, a Samsung India spokesperson refused to comment.

Much-awaited Galaxy S6 will take over from Galaxy S5 as Samsung's top smartphone and is expected to be a huge departure from its predecessor.

Launched last year in March, Galaxy S5 was a big disappointment for Samsung and missed the company's first quarter sales expectations, which is a crucial test to assess any model's sales for the entire year.

In an effort to stem the rot, the company unveiled the Galaxy Alpha, its first Android phone with a metallic body, within six months of Galaxy S5's launch.

Samsung is expected to retain the same metallic design in its Galaxy S6, along with a 2K (1440x2560p) screen. Taking forward the Galaxy Note Edge design, Samsung is said to be working on a Galaxy S6 variant with curved screens on both edges.

There is some uncertainty over the processor to be used in the upcoming smartphone, with reports suggesting Samsung is facing overheating issues due to the top-end Qualcomm chip it is testing. However, there have also been reports junking such speculation.

If the reports of overheating are true, Samsung would likely use its own Exynos chip in the international variant. This chip is said to be designed on 64-bit architecture. Samsung usually sells Exynos-powered smartphones in 3G-dominant markets.

Other likely features of Samsung Galaxy S6 features are 20MP rear camera, faster 4G radios, 32 and 64GB storage options, microSD card support and battery capacity of over 3,000mAh.


Samsung is also said to be working on add-on back panels that provide extra functionality to the smartphone. Among the back panels being developed is one that turns the rear casing into an e-book reader, while another is said to put all the S Health features on the back.

Galaxy S6 is crucial to Samsung's profitability as the company' mobile sales are being squeezed by the likes of Xiaomi at the bottom end and Apple's new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus at the top end. The new iPhones have helped Apple post the biggest profit ever in corporate history recently.

Riding on stupendous iPhone 6 sales, some estimates say Apple may have overtaken Samsung for the numero uno slot though the final numbers are yet to be revealed. Samsung has a lot riding on the S6 launch after the failure of Galaxy S5 and is speculated to have delayed the launch a bit to ensure Galaxy S6 turns out to be a winner.
      


After last week’s Windows 10 briefing, a brand new build of the Windows 10 Technical Preview was released publicly. Anyone can sign-up for the Windows Insider program and get a taste of Windows 10. Of course, pre-release builds should never be used as a primary OS, so today I’ll walk you through how to run the Windows 10 Technical Preview in a virtual machine.
Under normal circumstances I would do this walkthrough with Oracle’s VirtualBox. It’s free, open source, and works on just about any operating system. Sadly, the drivers appear to be broken for the time being. I couldn’t get sound or networking to work at all, and the screen resolution is severely limited. A quick peek at the community forums shows that other people are having the exact same problems, so hold off using VirtualBox for Windows 10 until these major kinks get worked out.
Instead, I’ll be using the free VMware Player application. It works like a charm, but it’s only available for Windows and Linux. VMware does offer premium virtualization solutions for OS X, but that’s a large investment just to test a preview build of Windows. I can’t recommend dropping $70 if this is all you’ll be using it for. With all that in mind, let’s jump in.




1. Download the Windows 10 ISO

First off, head over to the Windows Insider site, and sign up. Once you’ve agree to the terms of service, proceed to the download page, and pick which disc image you want to download. For the purposes of this walkthrough, I’m using the 32-bit English ISO, but go with whatever works for your set-up.





2. Create a new virtual machine

Now, you need to install VMware Player. Head to the download page, pick which platform you want, and complete the installation.
Once the application is installed, launch it, and navigate to Player > File > New Virtual Machine to get this party started.





3. Find your Windows 10 ISO

Next, you need to tell VMware Player where to find the Windows 10 ISO. Select the second option labeled “Installer disc image file (ISO),” and then navigate to the Windows 10 ISO you downloaded earlier.







4. Choose your save location

Pick out a name for this virtual machine, and then select where you’d like it to be saved.







5. Configure your virtual hard disk

On this screen, you need to choose how big you want your virtual disk to be. 60GB is the default, but you can increase it as needed. Just make sure you have enough free space on your actual hard disk.
By default, VMware Player will split your virtual disk over multiple files, and I recommend leaving it that way. Unless you have a specific reason to change it, keep it as is.







6. Customize your hardware configuration

Next, click the “Customize Hardware” button before we finish the initial set-up.






7. Allocate RAM

The default here is 1GB, but more would be better. I have 16GB of RAM in my machine, so I decided 4GB was an appropriate allocation for this virtual machine. Follow the guide on the right of the screen, and don’t go above the maximum recommended memory. If you outstrip what’s available, you’ll end up paging to the hard disk, and making everything slow to a crawl.






8. Configure the CPU

Switch over to the CPU tab, and choose how many cores you want to dedicate to this machine. One is the default, and that’s probably a safe starting point. My machine has four cores, so I usually end up bumping it to two cores for virtual machines, but your milage may vary.

Now, take a look at the button labeled “Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI.” If you’re using the 64-bit version of Windows 10, this is mandatory. Of course, your CPU needs to support this functionality, so use this tool from Microsoft to verify that it will work with your processor.








9. Begin the installation

Close out of the hardware configuration, and “Finish” the initial set-up. Now, boot up your virtual machine, and install Windows 10 just like you would normally.






10. Install the VMware tools

Once Windows 10 has finally booted up, navigate to Player > Manage > Install VMware Tools. It will mount a virtual DVD, and pop up a notification in the bottom right. Navigate to the disc in Windows Explorer, launch the appropriate executable, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: If you don’t already have the VMware tools on your PC, follow this process to download them.









11. Reboot your virtual machine

When it’s finished installing, reboot your virtual machine.






And you’ve virtualized Windows 10!

Finally, your Windows 10 installation is ready to use — even in fullscreen mode. Poke around, download the OS updates, and enjoy the cutting edge of Windows. And when something inevitably breaks, it won’t matter. This is just a virtual machine, so toss it, and start over.

USB 3.1 was a hot topic at CES this year, with multiple vendors talking up the standard’s performance and new, reversible connector. Shipping hardware is still some months away, but early performance data is looking solid — particularly given that third-party controllers tend to improve over time.
Anandtech has teamed up with MSI and Asmedia to benchmark USB 3.1 and compare it against third-party solutions from VIA as well as Intel’s own native solution. The results vary, but many metrics are quite impressive — particularly comparing random read performance at queue depth 32 between the USB 3.1 Asmedia and native Intel USB 3.0 performance.


 
Even compared to the VIA controller, which does quite well here, USB 3.1 is 27% faster. Compared to Intel, it’s 1.7 times faster. In real-world file copy tests, the Asmedia USB 3.1 controller completes the work in 75% of the time it takes the Intel integrated USB 3.0 controller and half the time of the VIA solution. Intel has demonstrated solutions capable of up to 800MB/s in RAID connected via USB 3.1; Anandtech’s early hardware hit 650-700MB/s in analogous testing. Generally speaking, Intel’s controllers tend to outperform third party controllers for a given standard, but they also tend to ship later — and it’s not clear when Intel will add USB 3.1.
Looking back to USB 3.0, Intel was remarkably late to add direct chipset support for the new standard — it took the company three years to deploy its own USB 3.0 solution after the first motherboards shipped with third-party controllers in 2009. At the time, it was widely believed that Intel dragged its feet on USB 3.0 hoping to replace it with Thunderbolt as the mainstream peripheral interconnect on most devices, but that never materialized.
Intel has yet to announce when it might add USB 3.1 support and AMD hasn’t announced it either, but I expect a similar third-party support situation to evolve. Companies like Via, Renesas, Marvell, and Asmedia will add the capability first, with integrated chipsets following after.
What’s more interesting, at least to me, is what improved storage performance could eventually mean for the venerable SATA connection. Currently, most motherboards sport an array of 4-12 SATA ports, but features like M.2 and mSATA allow for an SSD to be integrated directly on the motherboard. Combine this option with fast external storage, and you’ve got a set of solutions that could obviate the need for SATA ports at all — or, at the very least, reduce the number of additional connectors to 1-2 for expansion purposes.
Right now, that’s a non-starter — USB 3.1 doesn’t support features like TRIM — but in the long run, USB 3.1, future iterations of Thunderbolt, and PCI Express-based storage directly on-motherboard could eliminate most of the need for internal storage cabling at all.
